Container glass

Food safety is an important issue when inspecting container glass. We focus on high-precision technology, resulting in less reclamations and a better pack-to-melt ratio. Our inspection portfolio covers all areas of bottles and glass, from the body to the neck, to the rim of the finish.

CSWI - Combined Sidewall Inspection

The CSWI is a combined camera-sidewall machine with up to 18 cameras. Unlike other suppliers, Dr Guenther has one light source per camera position, resulting in much higher precision.
For many container types, the 360° thread inspection is important. Here the inspection of the entire finish area is possible, including automatic seam masking. In the area of the thread, defects such as unfilled, broken, deformation or inclusions on or between the threads are detected.

BMF - Bottom / Finish

The BMF is dedicated for base and finish inspection and has a mould number reader. The full version includes five inspections stations for bottom, bottom stress, mould number and two for mouth rim. The image recording is based on industrial CCD cameras; one to five cameras are used according to customer requirements. High light output, low energy consumption, long service life and the best optical conditions thanks to LED flash lighting are standard.

Defects in the finish

1  Damaged finish

2  Line over finish

3  Open blister

4  Overpressed and Wire Edge

5  Unfilled finish

6  Sugar rim

PLA - planity

The system is equipped with two cameras, which are mounted at an angle of 90° and detect even the smallest deviations. Dip and saddles are detected extremely precisely. Axis deviations of the conveyor belt are automatically compensated.
Possible defects inspections are:
- Defects on the finish
- Dips and saddles (+/- 20µm accuracy)
- Outbreaks
- Plane parallelism

The solution was first launched in 2008 and is  used today by leading global corporations.

Finish defects and plane parallelism

1  Breakouts

2  Dip

3  Unfilled finish

4  Saddle

5  Slope (deviation from plane parallelism)
